Flatiron District is a historic neighborhood in Midtown Manhattan, one of the New York neighborhoods that best captured the early twentieth century. We have seen it in so many TV shows and movies.
It is named after the beautiful Flatiron Building (23rd Street, between Broadway and 5th Avenue), one of the most iconic buildings in Manhattan and the main attraction within the neighborhood.
The Flatiron neighborhood spreads around Madison Square Park, a perfect place to start a walk through its streets. This plaza opened in 1847 and located between Madison and Fifth Avenue, and 23rd and 26th Streets, is in the heart of Manhattan.
Apart from the Flatiron, other classic Manhattan skyscrapers can be spotted nearby, among them the Metropolitan Life Tower (1 Madison Avenue), which was the tallest building in the world until 1913, when the Woolworth Building took its place as the tallest building in the world.
Located in the Flatiron District you can find the unusual New York Museum of Sex, an 18+ visit only. Explore the relationship between the sex industry and New York.
