where was the godfather filmed?

• The Corleone Residence in Staten Island 

Staten Island’s ‘Godfather’ house is located at 110 de Longfellow Road. The house today is pretty much the same as it appears in the film but no walls outside the property (was surrounded by a fake brick wall and wrought-iron gate). This is were Connie got married.

• Calvary Cemetery in Queens

Calvary Cemetery is a Roman Catholic cemetery located in Woodside in the New York City borough of Queens. Shortly after his death in 1955, Don Vito Corleone was buried at Calvary Cemetery in a ceremony that was attended by many crime family members from across the country. You can also find an actuall gangsters buried here like  Thomas  “Three-Finger Brown”.(Godfather Cemetery Scene Location & video).

• Little Italy

Little Italy is full of locations were The Godfather was filmed. Michael’s baptism (Michael Rizzi) was at St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral,  a Roman Catholic Basilica located at 260-264 Mulberry Street between Prince and Houston Streets. The exterior scenes were filmed at the Church of St. Joachim and St. Anne in the Pleasant Plains section of Staten Island. (Church from the Godfather baptism Scene video)

Outside the church of  Saint Anthony of Padua located at 155 Sullivan Street  you can see a young Vito (Godfather II) conspiring against mobster Don Fanucci.

Vicente Mancini (Andy Garcia) disguised as an NYPD Mounted Patrol officer shot to death Joey Zasa (Joe Mantegna) as he attempts to escape near 255 Elizabeth Street (btw Prince Street & East Houston Street).

• 5th Avenue

The scene were Michael and his girlfriend Kay Adams went shopping on Christmas was filmed at Best & Co, a department Store on Fifth Avenue at 51st Street.  The building was torn down to make way for the 51-story Olympic Tower currently at the site at mids 70’s.

Tom Hagen was abducted by Sollozzo as he exits Polk’s Hobby Shop at 314 Fifth Avenue. Polk’s went out of business and today is Empire Pizza.

• Hotel Edison

Don Corleone sends Luca Brasi to meet with Sollozzo and pledge his loyalty in order to spy on him, Hotel Edison is located at West 46th Street btw. 7th & 8th

• Radio City Music Hall

We can find Michael and Kay coming out of a show at Radio City Music Hall. They took the exit of the entrance on West 50th Street.

• Brooklyn

Sonny orders Clemenza to kill Paulie Gatto, there’s this scene of Clemenza leaving his house in Brooklyn, located at at 1999 East 5th Street.
