where was “the godfather” filmed?

• The Corleone Residence on Staten Island

  The “Godfather’s” Staten Island home is located at 110 Longfellow Road. The actual house is virtually the same as the one in the movie, but without walls outside the property (it was surrounded by a false brick wall and a wrought iron gate). This is where Connie was married.

• Calvary Cemetery in Queens

  Calvary Cemetery is a Catholic cemetery located in Woodside, in the New York City borough of Queens. Shortly after his death in 1955, Don Vito Corleone was buried at Calvary Cemetery in a ceremony attended by many members of the crime family from across the country. Also buried here are gangsters such as Thomas “Three-Finger Brown.” (location and video of Godfather cemetery scenes).

• Little Italy

  Little Italy is full of locations where The Godfather was filmed. Michael’s (Michael Rizzi) christening took place at Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral, a Catholic cathedral located at 260-264 Mulberry Street, between Prince and Houston Streets. Exterior scenes were shot at St. Joachim and St. Anne’s Church in the Pleasant Plains neighborhood of Staten Island. (Video of the baptism scene in the Godfather’s church)

  Outside the church of St. Anthony of Padua located at 155 Sullivan Street, a young Vito (The Godfather II) can be seen plotting against mobster Don Fanucci.

  Vicente Mancini (Andy Garcia) disguised as an NYPD mounted patrol officer shoots Joey Zasa (Joe Mantegna) to death as he attempts to escape near 255 Elizabeth Street (between Prince Street and East Houston Street).

• Fifth Avenue

  The scene in which Michael and his girlfriend Kay Adams went Christmas shopping was shot at Best & Co, a department store on Fifth Avenue at 51st Street. The building was torn down to make way for the 51-story Olympic Tower, which now stands on the same site in the mid-1970s.

  Tom Hagen was abducted by Sollozzo as he left Polk’s Hobby Shop at 314 Fifth Avenue. Polk’s closed and today is Empire Pizza.

• Hotel Edison

  Don Corleone sends Luca Brasi to meet with Sollozzo and pledge allegiance to spy on him, the Edison Hotel is located on West 46th Street between 7th and 8th Avenue.

• Radio City Music Hall

  We found Michael and Kay leaving a show at Radio City Music Hall. They took the West 50th Street entrance exit.

• Brooklyn

  Sonny commands Clemenza to kill Paulie Gatto, there is a scene of Clemenza leaving his Brooklyn home, located at 1999 East 5th Street.
