McSorley’s Old Ale House is a reminiscent of “Olde New York”. The walls, the sawdust floors, and the Irish waiters and bartenders give McSorley’s Old Ale House an atmosphere unique in New York City. Established in 1854 – McSorley’s can boast of being New York City’s oldest continuously operated bar in the city, the undisputed champion of NYC drinking institutions.
The US wasn’t known for it’s beer but now that craft beer is on the rise (especially in Brooklyn) it’s starting to get international attention.
If you’re a beer lover you should also try Brooklyn Brewery, a brewery in Brooklyn, New York City started in 1987 by Steve Hindy and Tom Potter. A very cool place, good atmosphere and excellent beer. Don’t be intimidated if there is a line out the door, it moves pretty quickly.
