1 million lights, glowing trail, hot cocoa, fire pits.
Lightscape at Brooklyn Botanic Garden is an annual after-dark, illuminated holiday trail experience held at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in New York City. Now in its fifth year, it transforms the garden’s landscapes, trees, and paths into a magical winter wonderland with over one million lights, dazzling art installations by international artists, synchronized music, and colorful displays. Visitors stroll along a roughly one-mile winding trail featuring immersive highlights like the iconic Winter Cathedral tunnel (a glowing archway of lights), reimagined fountain shows, giant sculptures, and enchanted forest-like scenes.
Along the way, you can enjoy seasonal food and drinks (hot cocoa, mulled wine, craft cocktails), with options for seated dinners or bars in heated areas. It’s family-friendly but also offers 21+ nights, sensory-friendly early entries, and verbal description tours for accessibility.
For the 2025-2026 season, it runs on select nights from November 21, 2025, to January 4, 2026. Tickets are timed-entry and required in advance (children under 2 free), with the garden closing early during the event for evening access only. It’s held rain or shine, and strollers are allowed (but no pets except service animals).
